Police prosecution witness, Said  Bangura, a builder, has yesterday testified before Magistrate Hamadi Wilbri Moira John at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, in an ongoing assault case.

In his testimony, the witness recognized both the accused, Reverend Dauda Fofanah and the complainant, Sulaiman Ahmed Dauda Sesay.

He recalled on Wednesday, 28th October, 2020, he was constructing a pillar fence with his colleagues at the complainant’s land, adding that whilst they were on the work the accused met them and ordered them to stop and immediately took a shovel, which he used to cover the hole they had dug.

He added that the complainant arrived at the scene and questioned the accused regarding his behaviour towards the workers.

He said argument ensued between the two and that the accused hit the complainant on his left shoulder.

He said he advised the complainant to go to the police and report the matter.

Defense Lawyer, Madieu Sesay, representing the accused, in his cross examination, questioned the witness whether the police called him at the station when the matter was reported; he responded in the negative.

He was also asked whether he was aware that there was land dispute between the complainant and the accused; he responded in the affirmative.

It could be recalled that the accused Reverend Dauda Fofanah on Wednesday 28th October 2020 at Black Hall Road, Kissy in Freetown, assaulted Sulaiman Ahmed Dauda Sesay in a manner thereby occasioning actual body harm.

The matter was adjourned to the 31st March 2021 for further hearing.
