Brother remanded for sexually abusing sister

One Mohamed Lamin Bangura was yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for alleged sexual assault on his biological sister, who is under the age of 18.

The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2 presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda on one count of incest contrary to Section 10(1) of the Sexual Offences  Act of 2012.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Friday 14th November at No.43 Taylor Street, Calaba Town in the east of the city, sexually penetrated a girl child who, to his own knowledge, is his younger sister.

In another development in the same court, Magistrate Kamanda also remanded one James Lansana at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for allegedly sexually penetrating a girl child under the age of 18, to wit 14 years.

The accused was not represented by any defence counsel.

Police prosecutor Sergeant 5984 Fofanah I.G. stated that her witnesses are not present in court and therefore applied for an adjournment in order to assemble prosecution witnesses.

Magistrate Kamanda refused the accused person bail and adjourned the matter to 17th and 18th December for the prosecution to open its case.
