April 29, 2015 By Ibrahim Jaffa Condeh

The Mayor of Bonthe Municipal Council has provided building materials to affected residents of a fire disaster at M’bokie village over the weekend.

Mayor Layemin Joe Sandi told this reporter the donation was in fulfillment of council’s duty to provide humanitarian assistance to communities in distress, adding that the building materials include roofing sheets, tarpaulins and assorted items to help victims rebuild their homes.

He promised that council would continue to provide assistance to residence of the island municipal township and nearby villages as and when the need arises.

On his part, Paramount Chief of Sittia Chiefdom, Thomas Jusu Lahai Kpanabom III, commended the mayor and his council for what he said was a laudable initiative that was carried out in time.

One of the victims of the fire accident, Fatmata Bah, commended the mayor for his foresight to provide them with building materials, just ahead of the rainy season.
