Bollore Transport and Logistics, has yesterday, Wednesday,13th January, offered scholarship worth hundreds of millions of Leones to 27 students from various universities across the country.
All seven students were selected from Seaside and Moa Wharf communities through an interview process after scholarship applications were submitted from dozens of students in those communities.
Speaking during the ceremony at their Queen Elizabeth II Quay, Cline Town in Freetown, Human Resource Manager at Bollore Sierra Leone, Claurinda Morgan, said as a company, they were happy to help the beneficiary students achieve their dreams.
She said she had been in that kind of situation and understands what it means when someone took up the mantle to help, especially financially, to enable them continue their education and called on them to use the opportunity wisely.
She further called on the female beneficiaries to take their studies very seriously , be role models in their various communities and compete with the male counterparts.
Also speaking, Faud Ali Bangura, a 3rd year student at the College of Medicine And Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) said he was very happy to be among the selected students that benefited from the Bollore scholarship scheme.
He said things were difficult for him to the point that he didn’t have hope of raising his fee this year, but he felt alive again when he received the call that he was among the selected students.
Abdul Aziz, a final year student at the University of Makeni, expressed gratitude to Bollore Company for making him one of the beneficiaries of their scholarship, stating that the scholarship was a dream come true for him especially when things are currently difficult for his parent.
Mbalu Mohamed Banura, a student from the Institute of Public Administration and Management, said her aim is to contribute positively to her community and society as a whole,adding that she believes she can achieve that through education hence she was very much happy and appreciative to Bollore for giving her the opportunity.
She promised to make good use of the scholarship.
