Bike rider jailed for assaulting female judge

22-year-old Patrick Gospel Koroma, a commercial motor bike rider, made another appearance before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of the Pademba Road Court No.4 in Freetown on three count charges to wit assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section of 47 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 186, public insult and provocation contrary to Section 2 of the Public Order Act No.46 of 1965.

It was alleged that on Friday, 17th December, 2021, at Old  Skool, Hill Station in Freetown, the convict  assaulted Justice Manuela A.J Harding in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

On count two, it was alleged that, at the same place and date, the convict insulted the said complainant in such a manner to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace and on count three, the convict did behave in a disorderly manner. 

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and he pleaded guilty. 

The convict was unrepresented whilst the complainant was represented by a battery of lawyers led by  S.M Tarawalie. 

Magistrate Tucker sentenced the accused person to one year six months in prison. 

Detective Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh prosecuted the matter.
