Diana Konomanyi’s godparent testifies in Allie Kabba’s case

April 28, 2016 By Regina Pratt

Godparent and adopted mother of Minister of Lands Diana Finda Konomanyi, Mrs. Evelyn Zizer-Wilson Tuesday, 26 April, 2016 testified in the bigamy and perjury trial between The State and Alie Kabba.

Mrs. Zizer-Wilson told Justice Miatta Samba at the Freetown High Court that she had witnessed the wedding ceremony between the accused and Ms Konomani.

Led in evidence by prosecuting counselA.G. Bockarie, the second prosecution witness, who says she is a retired nurse, said the wedding ceremony between the estranged couple took place at the Registry on 13 August, 2013 and was officiated by Administrator-General Madam Haja Serray Kallay.

The witness also said she was called to sign the wedding certificate after the Administrator-General had read the legal obligations of civil marriage to both spouses.

“Immediately after the wedding ceremony they went to my house at 166A Wilkinson Road, where they had champagne breakfast,”she disclosed.

The prosecutor then asked the witness if she could recognise a copy of the wedding certificate, to which she said yes.

However, defence counsel Francis Ben Kaifala objected to the tendering of the certificate on the grounds that it was a photocopy version and not a true and certified copy.

He argued that the prosecution should present the original copy of the wedding certificate, although the trial judge did not give a ruling.

The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, 3May, 2016.
