Magistrate Mohamed Serray Wurie of the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.2 yesterday issued a bench warrant for Pastor Abu Bakarr Kamara of Battle Axe Ministry and his sureties after they failed to appear in court on two consecutive adjourned dates.
The pastor is enmeshed in a legal wrangling with one Zainab Hassan who accuses him of fraudulently converting to his own use building materials that she entrusted to him.
According to Police Prosecutor Francis K. Nyuma, the accused on 31 May, at No.10 Woodland Estate, off Congo Cross, allegedly converted Le7 million that was given to him by the complainant for the purpose of constructing a house. He also alleged that on the same date the accused converted to his own use certain building materials valued Le6,980,000.
Meanwhile, in another matter in the same court, Abass Jalloh, Abu Bakarr Jalloh, Kandeh Sesay, Ibrahim Conteh, Bai Kargbo, Morlai Bangura and 10 other accused persons were granted bail of Le50 million and two sureties each in like sum for allegedly throwing missiles, riotous conduct, assault on police and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), among other offences.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons allegedly barricaded the Adonkia highway on 28 September with the aim of calling the attention of authorities to a corpse that was left in the community for four days.
