Host nation Guinea is gearing up for the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Continental Cup Zone II Pool 3 Sub Zonal tournament which will run from March 29 to April 2 this year in Conakry.
The tournament, which is the first phase of the Rio 2016 Olympic qualifiers, will feature Guinea as host, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Mali – as the nations prepare to battle for the two available qualifying slots.
The two qualifiers will proceed to the second phase (regional) of the Olympic Games qualifying competition.
The tournament will have as technical supervisor Sierra Leone’s Ahmed Khanou, who will be assisted by Guinea’s Bah Oury. Both officials attended the last Technical Supervisors Seminar in Cairo two weeks ago, thus the decision to have them supervise the tournament.
Meanwhile, the CAVB First Vice President, Mory Keita and Hady Guisse have been appointed to follow up and facilitate all the preparations for the event.
Sierra Leone has already unveiled its squad for the tournament and the country’s delegation is expected to travel to Conakry on Thursday by road.
