Bail restored to former APC councilor

Seiku Gibrila Turay allias Ice Tee, former Councilor of Ward 408, Constituency 116, who was remanded during the last adjourned date,has gotten his bail restored again.

He was standing trial on one count charge of incitement contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

It was alleged that on a date unknown in 2021 that, the accused made an inciting message at a press conference that was held at the New City Hall in Freetown.

The defense council led in a witness, Unisa Kamara, who is also a former councilor at the Freetown City Council.

He testified in court that, he recognizes the accused as his former colleague at the council and recalls attending a conference sometimes in 2021.

He said that the said conference was for them the councilors to express their grievance and talk on the behaviour of the chief administrator, adding that most of the councilors were present, including the accused.

He affirmed that the accused made a statement expressing their burning issues and the speech was for the chief administrator and the supervising committee to intervene.

Meanwhile, the state prosecutor, Yusif Isaac  Sesay  couldn’t  cross examine the witness on the grounds that the accused was not in court.

 He sought for a date to cross examine the witness.

The defense counsel applied for bail to be restored to the accused person.

The matter was adjourned to the 5th of May 2, 2023 for further hearing.
