DECEMBER I5, 2014 By Hawa Amara

One Amara Kamara was last Friday ordered to be remanded into custody at the male correctional centre on Pademba Road after he was arraigned for allegedly attempting to murder one Foday Mamoud Sesay.

The accused is being investigated at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2 presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda as to whether he has a case to answer in respect of four counts of attempted murder, wounding, wounding with intent, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to various sections of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861.

According to the prosecution, the accused stabbed his victim with intent to kill him on 5 December 2014 at Hagan Street in Freetown.

The accused was not represented by a defence counsel.

Police prosecutor Sergeant 5984 Fofanah I.G. applied for an adjournment to accord him time to assemble her witnesses and to hold conference with them.

Magistrate Kamanda noted that the offences under which the accused was charged are grave, and urged the prosecution to expedite the preliminary investigation.

The matter will again be mentioned on 21 January 2015.
