Aspirant for the Deputy National Chairman position of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Alhaji Alpha Mohamed Kallon, has over the weekend donated bags of cement and robber chairs worth millions of Leones to the Bo and Kenema party offices.

Speaking at the donation ceremony on Friday 8th November, Mohamed Kallon said SLPP is the oldest political party in Sierra Leone and in the West African sub region, noting that it was time for the party to construct part offices across the country.

He said establishing offices across the country will make the party the strongest in Sierra Leone and one of the strongest in Africa.

He said he had served the party as chairman in the Northern Province, and that during that time he used his personal income to rent party offices in almost all the districts in the northern.

He said when Bo Town launched their project to construct their party office years back, he was at the launching and donated the sum of one thousand United States Dollars.

He said he was aware that work on the party office has ceased, which was why he decided  to donate bags  of cement for the work to continue.

“I have intention to run for the Deputy Chairman position of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in the fourth coming convention, but that is not what I am here today to talk about. When the time comes to campaign I will come to you again and officially declare. Today, I am here to donate for the construction of the party office in this part of the country,” he said.

Also addressing party members in Kenema, where he donated rubber chairs to the party office, he called for unity among members of the party, stating  that unity is the only way forward.

He called on other members within the party to follow his footstep and donate to the building project of party offices across the country, adding that he has also been helping in the area of youth employment through his security agency.

Also speaking, the current Chairman and Leader of the party, Dr. Prince Harding, said the SLPP party was grateful for the donation and called on others to follow.

He said Alhaji Alpha Mohamed Kallon has over the years been doing  well for the party, stating that from his personal funds he has rented offices for the party in the major districts in the north.

“These are the type of people we need in the party, people that are willing to put their lives in damage and use their own resources to support the party. These  kind of people deserve to be paid back for their sacrifice,” he said.

Also speaking in Kenema, the Kenema District Chairman, Mohamed Ibrahim Moriba Koroma, said he had known Alhaji Alpha Mohamed Kallon since he was Regional Chairman of the party in the Northern Province, and that his good work for the party was unquestionable.

He thanked Alhaji Alpha Mohamed Kallon and delegation for the donation, stating that the donation was timely because they were short of chairs to accommodate their membership during meetings.

“We the members and delegates of the SLPP in the Kenema District welcome you and we want to assure you that you have our support for the position you will be vying for in the SLPP fourth coming conversion,” he assured.
