Assistant Superintendent of Police Sahr Komdokwi, who was attached to the Police Complaint, Discipline and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID), was yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba Road, for allegedly raping his foster daughter.
Magistrate Komba Kamanda ordered his remand, after he was arraigned on one count of rape, contrary to section 6 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.
According to the prosecution, on 8th September 2014, the senior police officer raped the victim at an address at Lower Savage Street in Freetown.
While making a bail application on behalf of the accused, defence counsel F.B. Kaifala said the accused is a senior Police Officer and that if granted bail he would not interfere with the key witness or jump bail.
On a counter submission, Prosecutor Inspector S. Conteh objected to the bail application on the grounds that the victim is his foster daughter and that there was every likelihood he would interfere with the witness – the victim.
In his ruling, Magistrate Kamanda reasoned on the side of the prosecutor and adjourned the matter until 18th November 2014, when the prosecutor is to open his case.
