Chief Executive Officer of the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC), Retired Major Alfred Palo Conteh, last Friday noted that despite the decline in confirmed Ebola cases the fight against the virus is yet to be won.
Speaking at the former Special Court building where NERC has its offices, during the donation of personal protective gears and assorted items worth over Le70 million by the National Revenue Authority, Conteh expressed appreciation to the board and management of the revenue authority for their support to government in the fight to eradicate the virus from the country.
“Before I took over as Chief Executive Officer for the National Ebola Response Centre, we were having over one hundred new cases per day, but it is good that the number has reduced, showing that Sierra Leone is making progress in the fight. But I will also say the fight is not yet over and there is still a lot to be done,” he emphasised.
Corporate Affairs Manager at NRA, Mohamed Bangura, maintained that their responsibility is to generate revenue for the government to run the affairs of the state, adding that the donation was to complement government’s effort in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus in the country.
