Arrest warrant for lands ministry official

Sitting Magistrate at Pademba Road Court No.6, Peter Gorgra, has yesterday ordered the arrest of George Koyama, a senior male staff at the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Lands and Country Planning, who was accused of insulting his boss.

Mr. George Koyama’s  warrant arrest came into force after he failed to appear before the court on first hearing.

The accused person was taken to court for insulting and assaulting his boss, Mrs. Marian Tutu Vandy, the Chief Building Inspector in the Ministry of Lands and Country Planning.

When the matter was mentioned in court, the accused person was absent, and, in the circumstance, the police prosecutor, Inspector Musu Kpulun, applied for a bench warrant for the accused.

The application was granted and the matter was adjourned to the 16th March, 2022, for hearing.

The accused person is to answer to criminal charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 47 of the Offenses Against the Person Act 1816.  

According to police charge sheet, the accused person on Tuesday, 9th November 2021, at Youyi Building Brookfields, in Freetown, assaulted Marian Tutu Vandy in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
