Freetown and other parts of Sierra Leone were yesterday greeted by a dramatic twist of event after Councilor Daddy Avondor  of Ward  308,Constituency  089 in Bonthe District, who had a day earlier declared for the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party(SLPP), openly reversed his decision.

Avaondor was recently elected under the ticket of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC)  in an SLPP dominated Bonthe district – the home district of President Julius Maada Bio.

Speaking  yesterday on Sierra Leones Broadcasting Corporation’s (SLBC) Morning Coffee programe, Avondor denied declaring for the SLPP outright, stating that he decided to work with the party after he was approached  by the hierarchy to do so.

“I never declared for the SLPP because I am not carrying party card for them. I am APC and would ever remain to be APC for life,” he said.

Contrary to claims that he contested under the APC ticket because he was denied symbol by the SLPP, Councilor Avondor stated that ‘I never applied for SLPP symbol. My aunt applied for the SLPP symbol but she was denied one.’

He noted that although his forefathers used to be staunch supporters of the SLPP, he decided to join the APC after the party implemented considerable development in their area.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Cornelius Deveaux, yesterday debunked the young councilor had declared for the ruling SLPP, but video evidence shows him making a declaration at the SLPP headquarters.

Meanwhile his seeming chicanery has created some tense in the political landscape of the country, with many of the view that the young councilor is an inconsistent personality that should not be trusted by anyone.
