APC scribe supports quarantined communities

DECEMBER 16, 2014 By Victoria Saffa

Secretary General of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Saturday (13 November) donated food and non-food items worth millions of Leones to the Sella-Limba and Tambaka chiefdoms in Bombali district.

The items donated include bags of 25kg rice, onion, sugar, salt, cartons of sardines, gallons of oil, hospital beds, hand sanitizers and cash of Le10 million.

Speaking during the donation ceremony, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh told residents that public officials and ruling party executives have been tasked by President Koroma to reach out to their people to help fight Ebola. “This donation is as a result of the president’s call,” he said.

He urged residents to clean their environment frequently, continue washing hands with soap and avoid touching sick people and dead bodies.

“I know the challenges faced by people in quarantined homes, which is why I decided to give my own little support as an indigene of this chiefdom. I am not doing this because I have money but rather because of the love for my people and country. If we are not able to defeat the Ebola virus, development will not take place,” he said.

Resident Minister-North, Alie D. Kamara, thanked Ambassador Yansaneh for what he referred to as a timely donation, noting that the items would go a long way in helping inmates in quarantined communities in both chiefdoms.

He admonished residents to listen to health tips and messages given to them by health experts. “We don’t want our people to continue dying from the Ebola virus. I am urging well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to emulate the good example of Ambassador Yansaneh,” he concluded.
