Ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Member of Parliament representing Constituency 51 in the Port Loko district has handed over building materials worth millions of Leones to help construct an examination centre, schools and Mosques.
The items donated include; over three hundred bags of cement, zinc, bags of rice and some million Leones for logistics in carrying out the work effectively and efficiently.
During the handing over recently, Hon. Abi Kaloko expressed her passion for quality education in her constituency, adding that her support to education is devoid of politics.
“My support to education has nothing to do with politics. It is no secret that education is pivotal towards the betterment of any nation. I am giving back to a constituency that gave the opportunity to serve them in parliament,” she said.
According to her, the constituency has been without an examination center for many years, a situation which has seen parents struggling to provide transportation and other logistics for their children to travel to Port-Loko town few weeks ahead of their exams.
She reiterated her commitment and determination to continue promoting girl child education in that part of the country, while encourage girls across the country to take their academic work very serious and shy away from early child birth and marriage.
“The promotion of education, especially for girls was part of my campaign promises when seeking your votes in the 2012 election to represent you in the house of parliament. I will continue to support the advancement of education,” Hon. Kalokoh assured.
The APC lawmaker also spoke about the Honorable Abi Kaloko five Million gala competition which will commence soonest with 13 villages expected to battle for the grand prize of a giant cow and two million Leones.
She added that a full set of jerseys will be giving to each participating teams to play the competition.
