Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the United States of America, Alimamy Coleson Turay, has been urged to declare his intention of becoming a national executive officer of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), as the National Delegates’ Conference slated for 5-6 September 2017 in Makeni, draws closer.
The urge was made by Friends of Alimamy Coleson Turay (FACT), APC Golden Women and the party’s grassroots. The Sierra Leone Deputy Ambassador to the U.S., who was a Member of Parliament for Constituency 98 from 2007 to 2012, is commonly referred to as the Rising Sun.
Public Relations Officer of FACT, Alpha Sesay, fondly called ‘Pen Pusher’ said they knew Ambassador Turay for his contributions in the APC party since the party was in opposition.
“He is a fine gentleman, accommodating and down to earth. He respects everyone irrespective of age, colour, tribe, religion or region. He has related attributes and vision to that of His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and is capable of upholding the indelible legacies of President Koroma. That is why we want him to vie for national position of the APC party,” he said.
Secretary General of FACT, Sahid Mohamed Kanu, said Hon. Colseson Turay is not a new comer in the party as he was the National Deputy Publicity Secretary back when the party was in opposition, adding that he was also the Member of Parliament representing Constituency 98 from 2007 to 2012.
“Ambassador Alimamy Coleson Turay is indeed a loyal member of the APC, it is on the basis that we are calling on him to swiftly jump into the race and run for either the Deputy Chairman of the APC Party or for Presidential Flag-bearer race of the party because the party is facing a crucial period of transitional,” noted Sahid Mohamed Kanu.
Chairlady of APC Golden Women, Aunty Ballay Kargbo, said Ambassador Coleson Turay is a honest and hardworking man with lots of political and private sector experiences, adding that those experiences could be used to drive Sierra Leone into more developmental activities like President Ernest Bai Koroma.
She added that Ambassador Coleson Turay has the know-how that will continue to uphold the legacies of President Koroma, especially “The Agenda for Prosperity (A4P)”.
“He is a social scientist, diplomat, and an experienced grassroots’ politician with national and international recognition. He is charismatic and liked by voters,” Madam Kargbo said.
