Alleged Sexual perpetrator to face High Court

One Rashid Alpha Kamara , 25, was yesterday (Monday 2nd September) committed to the High Court by Magistrate Abdul Sheriff presiding at the Pademba Road court No. 3, for allegedly  penetrating a 13 year-old girl.

Kamara is before the court on one count of sexual penetration of a child contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offenses Act No. 12 of 2012.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Momoh Lahai, alleges that the accused on Sunday 19th May 2019 at Kulafu Rashid Deen Primary School, Goderich in Freetown, sexually penetrated a child below the age of 18 to wit 13 years.

Magistrate Sheriff stated that, “Having gone through the evidence so far presented in the preliminary investigations, I am satisfied that the accused person has a case to answer. I therefore commit this matter to the High Court of justice for trial.”

However, the accused was granted a Le30 million bail and two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate said the two sureties should be gainfully employed and must be residents in the Western Area.

He said each of the sureties should produce two passport pictures and one must have a NASSIT ID card.

He added that the bail bond must be approved by the Deputy Master and Registrar of the High Court.
