Alleged sexual penetrators sent to High Court

Magistrate Abdul Sheriff presiding at the Pademba Road Court No.3 yesterday (Tuesday October 15th) concluded the preliminary investigation into the sexual penetration matters involving one Ibrahim Tarawaly,45, and Mohamed Sesay, 35, and committed both men to the High Court for trial.

Both accused were charged to court on two separate files for the offence of sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.

The prosecution in the Ibrahim Tarawaly’s matter alleges that in September, the accused penetrated a child under the age of 18 to wit nine years. Similarly, the prosecution in Mohamed Sesay’s case claimed that sometimes in September, he penetrated a 12-year-old child.

In his ruling, Magistrate Sheriff  said the prosecution in both matters presented their cases with witnesses and the evidences adduced were overwhelming to commit the matters to the High Court for trial.

Magistrate Sheriff however remanded both accused persons at the Freetown Male Correctional Centre until their indictment come up in the High Court of Justice.
