Alleged armed robber committed to High court

One Alie Kamara,28, a bike rider, was yesterday (Tuesday 19th November) committed to High Court by Magistrate Abdul Sheriff presiding at the Pademba Road court No.3 for conspiracy to commit a felony.

The accused is currently being preliminarily investigated on two count charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and larceny contrary to section 20 of the Larceny Act 1916.

Police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent, Moses Moore alleges that the accused on Sunday 28th July 2019 at Fergusson Street in Freetown, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony.

He said on count two, the accused stole one carat gold chain valued nine hundred British Pounds equivalents to eleven million, nine hundred and twelve thousand Leone and one designer shades valued two hundred and fifty Pound Sterling equivalent to three million, two hundred and eight thousand Leones, all to the total sum of fifteen million, one hundred and twenty thousand Leones property of Ivan Kamara Taylor.

The accused was committed to the High Court for further trial after testimonies of three prosecution witnesses.

The accused made 9 appearances before the magistrate committed the matter to the High Court.

However, the accused was granted a Le40 million bail and two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate said the two sureties should be gainfully employed and must be residents in the Western Area.

He said one of the sureties should produce two passport pictures and one must have a NASSIT ID card.

He added that the bail bond must be approved by the Deputy Master and Registrar of the High Court.
