The Sierra Leone beach volleyball male team got their All Africa Games qualifiers on a flying start in Dakar, Senegal by defeating their Gambian opponents in two straight sets: 21-16 and 21-17.

The pair – Patrick Lombi and Abu Bakarr Kamara – registered their first victory at the Djamalai Beach on Thursday.

However, the result went the other way in the female category as Sierra Leonean pair, Zainab Kamara and Josephine Sesay, went down by the same score margin to their Gambian rivals.

Meanwhile, the tournament host, Senegal secured a double win in both male and female categories over their Guinean rivals.
