Head coach of the Algeria national U-23 squad, André Pierre Schurmann, remains humble despite his side’s 2-0 win over their Sierra Leonean opponent in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers.
Schurmann’s boys took advantage of the first leg thanks to a brace from Amokrane Abdelhakim at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida, Algeria.
However, the Swiss coach in his post-match conference said he is relatively satisfied with the performance of his boys, especially for not conceding a goal.
“I’ve a little bit regret for the lack of effectiveness shown by the boys because we could achieve more opportunities. However, we did not need much pushing but we achieved our desire which is to win,” Schurmann said, adding that he still dreams of reaching the African competition in Senegal and the Olympics.
Meanwhile, the return leg tie which will be refereed by Senegalese Daouda Gueye, assisted by his compatriots Serigne Cheikh Toure and Abdulaziz El Hadji Gueye, will be hosted again at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium.
