The delegate conference of the main Opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party, (SLPP) will be held in Kenema in the east of the country on April 21 to 23, 2017.

The decision was taken by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party and in this process; delegates will elect   the presidential candidate or flag bearer and other national officials.

The township of   Kenema   is the largest city in the eastern region and the third largest city in Sierra Leone. The city is located on the railway line, in the valley of the Kambui Hills.

Kenema city is the centre of the Alluvial Diamond Mining Scheme and the site for the Government Diamond Office. It is an important agricultural market town and the centre of the timber industry in Sierra Leone.

Politically, Kenema is a stronghold of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), the main opposition party in Sierra Leone.

Ahead of the party’s conference, traders and entertainment centre owners, have been putting mechanisms in place  to entertain guests for the three days event starting 21,22,23 April 2017.
