After improvement in FIFA ranking…

Leone Stars coach applauds players & technical team

By Sahr Morris Jnr

Head coach of Sierra Leone national team, Johnny Mckinstry, has applauded his players and technical team after Sierra Leone moved to 54 positions in the FIFA monthly ranking for May.

The Irish coach, who took over the Sierra Leone national team in April 2013, has so far secured two wins, two draws and a defeat in his five matches as head coach of the national team, with his only defeat coming in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde in Praia which ended 1-0 in favour of the host.

With such good run, Mckinstry was full of praise for the players and technical team after FIFA released the ranking and he quickly tweeted a congratulating message on his tweeter page.

“Leone Stars move up to 54 in the #FIFA World rankings…our highest position since 1996. Well done to all the players and technical staff.”
