Accused granted Le40m bail for alleged human trafficking, sexual penetration

Magistrate Abdul Sheriff presiding at the Freetown Magistrate’s Court No.7 has yesterday granted bail to one Alpha Kalokok, 39, a businessman for an alleged human trafficking and sexual penetration.

The accused is before the court for two counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child and Human Trafficking Contrary to Section 2(1) of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act of 2005.

Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent, Moses Moore, alleges that the accused on a date between 1st January, 2016 and 23rd January, 2018, at No.8 Fannah Street, Allen Town in Freetown, sexually penetrated a child below the age of 18 to wit 15years old.

On count two, it was alleged that the accused person on the same date and place, trafficked the victim.

Defense counsel G. A  Ansumana, applied for bail on behalf of his client, stating that the latter has reliable sureties that would stand in his recognizance, and that if granted bail, he would not jump  it  or interfere with witnesses.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Sheriff granted bail to the accused in the sum of 40million Leones, two sureties, stating that one of the sureties must produce valid NASSIT ID card, with National ID cards and that  bail must be approved by the Deputy Master and Registrar.

The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 3rd April for ruling.
