Witness: Rounds of ammunition discovered at 4th accused house

Lance Corporal David Saidu, the 12th prosecution witness in the ongoing  court martial on Wednesday, 7th February, 2024,  narrated that, in the course of their investigation, they discovered rounds of ammunition at the fourth’s  accused residence.

In his testimony led by State Counsel, Corporal David Saidu is attached at Joint Purpose Unit, Wilberforce Barracks, and an investigator at the RSLAF.

He recalled  that he was on duty in the morning hours, when he was invited to do an investigation regarding the November 26th failed coup.

The witness further stated that he then asked to take statements from the 4th, 5th 6th, and 12th accused persons.

He said on the 6th of December 2023 he interviewed the fifth accused person.

He said on the 6th of December, he, Sergent Bangura, and Detective Mohamed Kargbo, questioned and cautioned the fourth accused.

The witness said during the interview and the investigation, they had the opportunity to visit the fourth accused’s residence and discovered some arms and ammunition that belonged to the RSLAF.

He said the black rounds of ammunition found at the 4th accused residence were ammunition only meant for training purposes of the RSLAF and were kept only by the armed forces.

He said that based on the evidence that they put against the accused, he said all of them were correct and the accused signed against them.

The Judge Advocate adjourned  the matter to 12th February 2024 for the continuation of the testimony of the thirty persecution witness
