Magistrate Sahr Kekura has sentenced a security guard, Mohamed Fullah, at the Male Correctional Centre for three months or alternatively pays a fine one million Leones, for pretending to be a landlord, which is false

The accused was arraigned before the court on a count charge of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Police alleged that the convict, sometimes in August 2023, at Spur Loop, Wilberforce in Freetown, obtained four thousand new Leones (NLe4,000) from John Matthew Foster, by falsely pretending that he had a single room apartment for rent, knowing same to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to him, without wasting the court time, he pleaded guilty to the charge and promised to refund the said to the complainant.

The case file contained detailed report made by the complainant, his witnesses and that of the convict including the receipt after negotiation.

The complainant told the police during investigation how he contacted the accused at a time he was in dire need of an apartment.
