Sierra Leone and former Apollon striker, Mustapha ‘Haji’ Bangura, has confirmed he is fully fit to make a return to the national team, Leone Stars ahead of their second round qualifier against Sao Tome.

The striker missed both legs of the Leone Stars’ first round qualifiers against Swaziland as he was recovering from a foot injury which ruled him out of football action for two months as he underwent surgery in Cyprus.

However, the former AEK Larnaca striker revealed he turned down an earlier invitation from the Leone Stars technical team ahead of the Swaziland clash because he was not 100% fit.

He said: “By then I was 70% to 80% fit so I decided to pull out because I want to make sure I am fully fit to play competitive matches. Thanks to my doctor who helped greatly whilst I was undergoing rehabilitation and his advice. Now I have no problem with my fitness and I am ready to pull on the national colours again.”
