Yatta Sheriff, Mustapha Sesay and Jeneba Elizabeth Sheriff were yesterday remanded at the male and female correctional centres on Pademba Road and Jomo Kenyatta Road, respectively, by Magistrate Manuella Harding of the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.2 for wounding one Oliver Kamara with intent.

The accused are charged with four counts of conspiracy, wounding with intent, wounding and assault.

Police prosecutor Inspector Moses Moore said the accused conspired with other unknown persons to wound the complainant, Oliver Kamara, on 26 April, 2015 at Clerk Street, New England Ville in Freetown.

In her testimony, the complainant said she knew the accused persons in her neighbourhood, and recalled that on 26 April this year the accused disconnected a pipe which supplies water to their tank and that she told them they needed water at home and should reconnect the pipe and fetch water from elsewhere.

She explained that in the evening of the same day, the accused went into their compound to lodge a complaint to her mother, but that before the accused persons could say, her mother told them that she had heard everything that had transpired between them in the morning.

She said the first accused then retorted that she was not in the compound to lodge a complaint but to wound the complainant, following which she took out a blade and wounded her on the head and hand, while the second and third accused bounded her hands.

She said she reported the matter to the New England Ville police station and was issued a medical paper which she took to the hospital for treatment, and that she was given eight stitches on her head.

The complainant said she later returned the medical paper to the police and made a statement.

The matter will be heard again on 13 May.
