3 remanded for larceny

Kadiatu Mansaray, Saidu Kamara and Mohamed Aliue Bah were on Friday, 1 July remanded at the male and female correctional centres in Freetown by Justice Maitta Samba, for allegedly stealing 60.1 gram carat gold chain, reportedly worth Le19 million, and 14 gram gold necklace valued Le8 million, belonging to one Kelvin Davies.

First accused Kadiatu Mansaray was charged with one count of larceny, contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

State Prosecutor Ahmed J. M. Bockarie alleged that on 17 January, 2015 the first accused stole the 60.1 gram gold necklace and 14 gram gold necklace from the complainant Kelvin Davies.

Second and third accused persons, Saidu Kamara and Mohamed Aliue Bah, respectively, were charged with receiving stolen goods, contrary to section 33(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The prosecutor further noted that the incident occurred in the capital, Freetown.

The matter continues.
