On June 3, 2024, 19-year-old Justice Jusu Kallon made his first appearance before Principal Magistrate Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
Kallon has been remanded in custody on allegations of stealing property belonging to Josephus Choe Junior Mamie, a staff member of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources. The stolen items are valued at Le20,00..
Kallon faces two counts of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the indictment, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Kallon allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Josephus Choe Junior Mamie at W-7 Spurloop, Freetown.
He is accused of stealing various items, including Gabbana perfume, two multi-colored T-shirts, a solar wake study light with multiple chargers, an Akuraba wall hanging, two Ralph Lauren polo T-shirts, a school bag, and Le200,000 in cash. The total value of these items is Le212,414.00.
The second count alleges that on May 10, 2024, Kallon stole additional items from Mamie, including a silver flash drive, a pair of white towels, a thermal base layer long-sleeve T-shirt, two sets of three underwear, a bottle of cocktail drink, and other items, totaling Le20,008/00.
Inspector Kadie Taylor, the prosecuting officer, requested a proper conference with the complainant. Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to June 13, 2024, for further proceedings, and Kallon was remanded in custody.
