A 17-year-old girl in Mathele Bana village, Taneh Chiefdom in the Tonkolili District has been reported to have stabbed to death her mother-in-law, Musu Sankoh.
An eyewitness, Mohamed Sesay, told Concord Times that the incident occurred on Thursday 30th January at about 5:00am after the deceased had asked the girl to fetch her water to bath. The girl, according to the witness, refused to honour her mother-in-law’s request and instead threatened to kill the latter should she insist.
“I was in my room when I heard the deceased saying she has married another wife for her son,” Sesay explained, adding that, soon after, an argument ensued between the two that resulted into a serious scuffle with the suspect picking up a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased, subsequently leading to her death.
The matter is being investigated by the Makali police post in the Tonkolili District, while the suspect is under police custody helping with the investigation.
