Julius Woobay accounted for Neftci PFC’s opener in their 3-1 victory over FC Baku yesterday (Wednesday Oct. 30) in the Azerbaijan Premier League with a fabulous 36th minute curling free kick and celebrated with a cooling gesture.
The Sierra Leonean attacking midfielder and his team rounded off the scoring away from home with two more goals from Abdullayeve and Caue in the 62nd and 85th minute respectively to close the gap on league leaders Qarabag.
Novruzov accounted for the only goal for host Baku.
However, Woobay was substituted in the 77th minute for Flavinho.
Elsewhere, another Sierra Leonean, Alfred ‘Zagalo’ Sankoh, played the whole match and was also on the score sheet for Khazar Lankaran against Sumqayit at the Capital Bank Arena.
The former Sanliurfaspor player was even more impressive scoring the winner for Lankaran in the 65th minute after Sumqayit had equalized through M. Qurbanov just before the break.
Fernando Gabriel gave Lankaran the lead away from home.
The goal was Sankoh’s second in three matches, the first was scored from the penalty spot in the 35th minute to help Khazar Lankaran secure a 4-0 home win over FK Baku.
