Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Member of Parliament representing Constituency 85 in the Moyamba district has received an international award for her role in a movie titled ‘CLIQUE- the street governor’ by SIIKETV in Philadelphia, United States of America.
Hon. Veronica K. Sesay told this medium that out of the fifteen countries that were nominated for the award; the movie from Sierra Leone emerged as the best.
“My passion for the entertainment and movie industry led me to register a production company named: ‘VERONICKS PRODUCTION’ to promote youth, language, and talent in marketing local movies internationally,” she said.
The SLPP lawmaker stated that she finds it disgusting to see children killing each other and the raping of promising young girls, adding that the movie is meant to sensitize the youth to stop violence.
She added that some of youth explained their story to her as to why they decided to stay in the streets.
“We decided to title the movie ‘CLIQUE’ because of the violent life of the youth across the country. This movie will help to sensitize the youth against violence,” she said.
Hon. Sesay described the award as a national one and not individual because it is a sierra Leonean movie, while urging those in the business of movie production to work towards improving on their talent and skills to move the industry to another level.
With regards the issue of piracy, she called on the industry stakeholders to enforce the piracy Act, which was enacted in parliament few years ago.
