The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Friday announced that the long-awaited annual congress will be staged from 29 to 30 January 2015, but the venue is yet to be confirmed.
According to the association’s General Secretary, Chris Kamara, they have already notified all stakeholders about the congress date through a correspondence which was also attached with a letter from the world football governing body, FIFA.
However, in the event that congress clashes with any of the national team, Leone Stars’ qualifying matches to the 2015 African Cup of Nations, Kamara said they will be left with no option but – as per the regulation – to defer the congress.
It could be recalled that few months back, several stakeholders had reminded the SLFA executive that the annual congress has long overdue; a situation that led to several stakeholders accusing the SLFA executive of deliberately refusing to hold the congress.
In another development, former Head of Marketing and Communication at the SLFA, John Konteh, has launched the newly constructed website and first ever webpage the SLFA has secured in its operations.
The website, according to Konteh, can be accessed through www.slfa.sl, adding that fans, journalists and other interested parties the world over “will now have the opportunity to get firsthand information and much more details about the SLFA from wherever location”.
