Woobay, Medo on the score sheet in Europe

February 17, 2015 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sierra Leone pair, Gibrilla Julius Woobay and Mohamed ‘Medo’ Kamara, were both on target for their respective European clubs-Neftçi FC in Azerbaijan and Maccabi Haifa in the Israeli Premier League respectively.

Woobay’s Neftçi secured a 1-3 win over Qabala and the Sierra Leonean attacking midfielder’s 58th minute strike gave Neftçi the equalizer after the home side took the lead from Mendy’s 10th minute goal.

Goals from Denis and Flavinho rounded the score-line for Neftçi as they registered their second successive win to move five points clear of fourth place Simurq.

In Israel, Mohamed ‘Medo’ Kamara scored his first goal for Maccabi Haifa since joining the club on loan from English Championship side, Bolton Wanderers.

Maccabi Haifa walloped Ashdod 5-0 and Medo was one of the scorers in the emphatic victory, scoring his side’s third goal of the day in the 55th minute, 14 minutes after he was cautioned by the referee.

In Greece, John Kamara was introduced in the 80th minute as his Lamia FC side defeated Ethnikos Gazoros 2-0 at home.

In the Italian Serie B, Rodney Strasser was an unused sub in Livorno’s 0-1 away win over Varese.

In the English League Two, winger Sullay Kaikai played for 69 minutes before he was replaced by Nigerian Chiedozie in Cambridge United’s 2-0 defeat in the hands of Plymouth.
