Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA), Morrison Sannoh and his Western Area Football Association (WAFA) counterpart, Abdul Kanasieu have both endorsed the interim body of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
A total of 40 football stakeholders, at an extra-ordinary congress held on December 20 in Freetown, resolved to dissolve the Isha Johansen-led executive, citing “several constitutional violations”, among others. This decision later got the blessing of the National Sports Council of Sierra Leone, which endorsed the Alhaji Unisa Alim ‘Awoko’ Sesay-led interim executive.
The ERFA and WAFA have become the first two regional bodies to make public their endorsement of the SLFA interim executive just few weeks after the National Sports Council did.
According to Sannoh, ERFA no longer recognizes the Isha Johansen executive, stating that they are now working with the interim executive and will extend an invitation to them ahead of their forthcoming regional congress.
“We as a region are fully behind the decision of the stakeholders and are in support of the interim body. They are the ones we will extend our invitation to grace our congress,” Sannoh said.
On his part, WAFA boss Kanasieu said as a region they are totally in support of the majority stakeholders’ decision, and they recognize the Awoko-led interim executive.
