President Ernest Bai Koroma on Wednesday received a formal invitation from outgoing President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to attend the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.
The invitation was presented to the president by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Mrs. Gladys Modupe Quist-Adebiyi, at his State Lodge residence in Freetown.
Receiving the High Commissioner, the president congratulated President Jonathan for the abled manner in which he had handled the affairs of Nigeria, as well as the democratic way he conducted the recent presidential election, noting that he has made Africans proud, particularly within the West African sub-region.
He stated that the conduct of the election further strengthens the democratic credentials of Nigeria and by extension, the sub-region.
President Koroma congratulated incoming president General Buhari and expressed profound hope that the strong ties that have existed between the two countries will continue to grow from strength to strength.
High Commissioner Quist-Adebiyi thanked President Koroma for his “focused leadership” towards bringing back the country on the path of development.
She expressed keen interest in receiving President Koroma during the inauguration celebrations slated to take place on 29 May.
