Parliamentary Aspirant Vows to deliver constituency to SLPP

Leading aspirant in last Friday’s parliamentary primaries in Constituency 113 of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Idriss Sahid Kamara, has vowed to deliver the constituency to SLPP.

Mr. Kamara, who made the vow to Concord Times shortly after he polled 29 votes out of 58 delegates’ votes cast.

He defeated three other aspirants in the primaries conducted at the Children Welfare Islamic Primary School at Ojuku, Allen Town.

Constituency 113 covers Calaba Town to Orugu Bridge in Lower Allen Town, east end of Freetown.

After the announcement of result, a mammoth crowd of jubilant supporters and admirers of the parliamentary aspirant did a float parade in celebration of his victory.

 “I will prove to the general public that the Western Area is not dominated by APC but a place that has varieties of people who want to elect their representatives that have contributed positively in the communities,” he said.

The SLPP parliamentary aspirant, who is the director of Safer Future, a non-governmental organisation that was formed in 1993 to provide technical and vocational skills to youth, said his organisation has trained over one thousand (1,000) youth in the country.

“I have transformed the lives of young people within and outside Constituency 113. I have also provided safe drinking water and even support health services within the constituency. I have created jobs to support the livelihood of the people,” he said.

He promised to improve the road network if elected Member of Parliament in the March 7, 2018 election.

 “I also want to provide safe drinking water in order to reduce the high rate of teenage pregnancy. Teenage girls, who fetch water very late at night or early in the morning, are tempted by their male counterparts. I will also improve on education system in the constituency,” he promised.

He said as a development-oriented personality, who had spent most of his lifetime in the area of development, he believes he will be able to do a lot to improve the constituency.
