Commissioner Alphinia Williams

Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment and the Public Service last Friday interviewed commissioner of the Independent Media Commission (IMC), Alphinia Williams, Board Chairman of the Audit Service Sierra Leone, Charles Rogers and seven other board members to serve in different institutions across the country.

Answering to some questions by committee members, Madam Alphinia Williams said there was need  to be engaging media practitioners on a regularly basis to remind them about the IMC code of ethics, so as to enable them  write  their stories or articles accurately and ethically.
“I have been in the media for almost a decade now and I have to accept the offer as I will be serving the media. There is need to upgrade journalists  in order for them to become like me. The code of ethics is for us as journalists and I do believe we must go by it and follow it to the letter. I think there is need to talk to them,” she said.

Proposed Board Chairman of Audit Service Sierra Leone, Charles Rogers, promised that he will take along integrity to his new office.

The other nominees includes: Joshua Nicol as proposed board member of the Anti- Corruption Commission, Rosaline M’Carthy and Abubakarr Marcel Sheriff as proposed board members at Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) Edleen Elba as proposed board member at Sierra Leone Local Content Agency, Fatmata Denton as proposed board member at Audit Service Sierra Leone, Doris Fisher as proposed board member at Sierra Leone Civil Aviation and Mohamed Baimba Fadika as proposed board member at Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority respectively.
