Speaking at the well -attended ceremony at Goroma Mende Chiefdom, Chief Moses Joe Harding, said they have waited long for such development in their Chiefdom and that they have every reason to jubilate and bless Orange for linking them with the whole world.

He said youth in that particular area worked tirelessly to erect the pole because they knew the coming of communication to their community meant development.

He said their Chiefdom had missed out on many development projects because of the lack of communication, and that before now they used to work miles away to make telephone calls, which he said was very much challenging to them especially when someone was seriously ill and needed immediate medical attention.

Also speaking, Chiefdom Speaker of Goroma Mende Chiefdom, Chief Joseph Sengu Koroma, thanked the Orange entourage, stating that words alone cannot express how happy they were for such development in their chiefdom.

According to him, with communication in their community, other vital developments would follow and promised that they would do all they could to ensure that the facility is fully secured and protected.

In her keynote statement on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer,Head of Legal and Company’s Secretary, Haffie Haffner, said Orange was not in the country to operate only in Freetown but to provide quality and affordable communication to all the people of Sierra Leone.

She said Orange bought Airtel Sierra Leone with two hundred and fifty pole sites across the country, and that they would increase the number to about 45 more new sites to expand their coverage.

She said the 33 million United States Dollars that was set aside for the modernisation and expansion of their coverage includes the putting up of 45 new sites.

She disclosed that each new site cost the company about one hundred thousand United States Dollars.

She said having and using Orange sim card have lot of benefits because almost all the time they have promotions, which provide people with the opportunity to win many golden prizes, adding that during the month of Ramadan, they sent people to Mecca to perform their Haji and that they have also sent six people to their dream cities through their ‘Christmas Bongo promotion’.

She called on stakeholders of the chiefdom to do all in their powers to protect the site for the benefit of all in their chiefdom and beyond.
