Pastor Brian Kamara Kay of Faith in Christ Evangelist Church was yesterday granted bail of Le20 million by Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2 after being docked for allegedly wounding one Adama Bangura with intent.
The accused was arraigned on three counts of assault, wounding and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, contrary to section 18 of the Offence Against the Persons Act of 1816.
The prosecution alleged that the accused person on Monday 2 December, 2013 at 13 Fullah Street in the central part of Freetown, wounded the complaint with the intent to cause her harm.
In granting bail, Magistrate Kamanda stated that the case before him is a family matter, stressing that the accused is the younger ‘brother’ of the complainant’s husband.
In another development in the same court, Magistrate Kamanda remanded 60-year-old Mohamed Bangura at the Pademba Road maximum prison for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a five-year-old girl.
The accused was arraigned on one count of sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No.12 of 2012.
The prosecution alleged that the accused on Saturday 28 December, 2013 at 33 Hagan Street, sexually penetrated a girl under the age of 18 years to wit five years.
The matter is being prosecuted by Assistant Superintended Raymond R. Dunnia and the proceedings continue on February 21.
