Lawn Tennis: SFE boosts Northern Region

January 12, 2016 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Sports for Empowerment Foundation (SFE) has over the weekend donated lawn tennis equipment to the Northern Region Lawn Tennis Association. The ceremony took place at the Wusum mini-stadium in Makeni.

The foundation presented seven pairs of tennis shoes, 20 rackets and 106 lawn tennis balls to the association as their support towards the development of the sport in the region.

According to the foundation’s website, the donated equipment were items offered by various people and clubs in the Netherlands, including T.C. Bas Dongen, Mejor Sports and Tennishal Schenkeldijk from Dordrecht.

“Sports for Empowerment is working in partnership with the Makeni Lawn Tennis Association to promote tennis amongst children,” the foundation posted on its website.

The Northern Region association became the second beneficiary of such gesture as a similar donation was made three weeks back to the Southern Region Tennis Association.

SFE is a community-based organisation in Sierra Leone which leverages the power of sports and education to enable young people to empower themselves and to improve their own live. The foundation was in 2015 nominated for the Dordtse local volunteer award.
