Kabala Central Mosque hails Airtel

 Worshipers at the Kabala Central Mosque in Kabala Town, Koinadugu District, Northern Serra Leone, on Friday, 9th June, 2017, hailed and blessed the leading telecommunications company in the country, Airtel Sierra Leone for the donation of food stuff worth millions of Leones.

Airtel Sierra Leone on 23rd May,2017, launched their Ramadan ‘Babalaa’ promotion, with daily and weekly gifts. The promotion would run unto 30 June,2017.

According to Airtel’s  Revenue and Market Planning Manager, Abibatu Junisa, daily winners would be receiving food items, while fifteen lucky winners would  receive Le2 million each in the weekly draw.

She said at the end of the promotion, three people would be sponsored by Airtel to perform Hajj in the Holy city of Mecca.

Receiving Airtel’s delegation and donated items, including ten bags of 50kg quality rice, two big bags of milk, onion, oil, tomato and other items, Deputy Imam of the Kabala Central Mosque, Alhaji Mohamed Saffa Barrie, said special thanks to the delegation for the offer.

He said they would always continue to offer prayers for the company during the Holy month of Ramadan.

He expressed joy for the donation, which, he said, was made at the time when needed most and promised that they would make sure the items are properly utilised for the benefit of all worshipers in the mosque.

“Airtel is one of the leading telecommunication companies in the country that is doing a lot of great things. By remembering us and donating these food items to us, shows that you care and have respect for the Holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the Airtel delegation, Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, June-Rose Johnson, said they have thought it fit to donate food items to the central mosque of Kabala during the month of Ramadan.

She said they have visited other mosques in the provinces across the country and donated to selected mosques, with the belief that they would help touch the lives of Muslims observing the month of Ramadan.

“Ramadan is a special month of blessing and alms giving, which is why we at Airtel have decided to give back to our Muslim customers in the country to support them go through the blessed month,” she said.

Also speaking, Chief Finance Officer of Orange Telecommunication, Gaelle Kerlan, said she was very happy to be part of the donation ceremony, adding that since she came into the country, she had never been to any place in the provinces but decided to join the donation team to Kabala Town, which meant that the people of the township are special to her.

Prior to the donation at Kabala, Airtel team, on 8th June, 2017, with loud blast of music and jingle, engaged residents in major points in Makeni, conducting raffles and sensitizing them about their ongoing ‘Babalaa Ramandan promotion.
