The Executive Director of Orphan Transition Empowerment Programme-Sierra Leone (OTEP-SL), Mohamed Awalu, has said that girl-child education is their paramount concern as they are targeting rural and vulnerable communities across the country.

Mr. Awalu told Concord Times in an exclusive interview that his organization would provide financial assistance in the form of aid to guardians or extended family members that would enable their girl-child further their education.

He said some parents and guardians cannot afford to send their girl-child to school and rather use them as bread winners for the home.

“We intend to do more in helping people who are in need by promoting girl-child education in the rural areas and vulnerable communities. We would also help the disabled and street children when funds are available,” he said.
