Sylvanus Foday and Joseph Abdulai were Tuesday ordered to be remanded at the Freetown Male Correctional Centre by Magistrate Santigie Bangura.
The duo are currently undergoing preliminary investigation for the offense of murder.
According to Police Prosecutor Inspector Isatu Gbassay Fofanah, both accused persons on 16th May 2018, at Bathurst Junction in Freetown, allegedly murdered one Alhaji Dabor.
Testifying in court, Detective Sergeant John A. McCarthy, attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at Mountain Cut Police Station, recognised the accused persons and recalled the day of the incident.
He narrated that a group of people, together with the complainant Abdul Jalloh, arrested and took both accused persons to the police station and handed them over to him.
He said that after the complainant made a statement of assault, he searched both accused persons and found a knife in their possession.
“On the 17th May, 2018 I received information from the complainant that the assaulted victim, Alhaji Dabor, has been found dead in a vehicle. Upon that information, I and a team of police officers visited the scene of crime,” he narrated.
The detective sergeant said he subsequently took the remains of the deceased to the Connaught Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, which was conducted in his presence by Chief Pathologist Dr. Simon Owizz Koroma, and on conclusion a certificate of findings and cause of death was issued.
“On 31st May, 2018 I and Detective Sergeant 9792 Dumbuya A. charged the accused persons to court for the offence of murder,” he added.
The accused persons are represented by Lansana Dumbuya.
The matter was adjourned to 25th June.
