Ace Concord Times newspaper sports reporter, Sahr Morris Jnr., has been accredited by the football world governing body, FIFA to cover the 2014 World Cup tournament in Brazil.
The FIFA approval will come as a shock to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), who recently threatened to withdraw the leading sports journalist’s application for the competition, knowing fully well that it lacks the authority to do so.
Morris Jnr., who covered the last World Cup tournament in South Africa, will this year travel to Brazil alongside the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) president, Mohamed Faja Barrie, who has also been accredited by FIFA.
“I am very much happy to receive FIFA’s approval to cover the 2014 World Cup tournament. I am looking forward to be part of the greatest football showpiece in the world,” said the two-time Independent Media Commission (IMC) award winning journalist for “Best Sports Reporting”.
