The road to Beach Volleyball glory at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games has become clearer for 24 competing nations and thousands of ticket holders are ready to attend and witness the live matches, following the release of the official match schedule for the preliminary rounds of the competition.
The match schedule, sanctioned by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), reveals the draw for the 36 match preliminary stage of the men’s and women’s competitions from 6-9 April before the quarter final stage commences on 10 April 2018.
The Australian men’s and women’s teams will both open their accounts on day one of competition, with the Australian women taking on Cyprus in the afternoon session and the Australian men facing Fiji in the final match of the evening session.
According to the Commonwealth Games News website of 20th February 2018, top ranked women’s nation- Canada will play Fiji in their opening clash on day one, while the top ranked Canadian men will take on Sierra Leone in the afternoon session on day one.
Each nation will play three matches during the preliminary stage of the competition, with the two highest-ranked teams from each pool and the two best third-ranked teams from all pools advancing to the quarter final phase. The above story is an excerpt from the Commonwealth Games
