Alleged housebreaking lands man in jail

Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court no.2 yesterday remanded twenty-two-year- old technician, Saidu Kabia, for allegedly entering into premises belonging to one Yamenah Bakai, and stealing properties worth over two million Leones.

The accused was arraigned on one count of housebreaking and larceny contrary to law, with the particulars of offence stating that the accused person on Tuesday, 14 November, 2017 at No.1 Hamilton Lane, broke into and entered the residence of Yamenah Bakai, stealing assorted items worth Le2.8 million.

The accused was denied bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre while the matter was adjourned for hearing.

In another matter, the same magistrate also remanded Foday Sesay, Mohamed Bangura and Abass Jallah at the Male Correctional Centre.

The three accused persons were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, larceny and receiving stolen goods contrary to law.

The particulars of offence states that Foday Sesay and Mohamed Bangura, sometimes in October, 2017 at Kroo Town Road in Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime.

It also states that Foday Sesay sometimes in October 2017, at Brima Lane-Wellington, did steal a motorbike with registration number AMK 504, valued Le8 million, while entrusted to him by Salifu Sesay for commercial purpose.

The particulars of offence further states that Abass Jalloh, sometimes in November 2017, received the said motorbike, property of Haja Daboh, knowing the same to have been stolen.

The trio was denied bail and the matter adjourned.
